Support at LMSC

Support for Learners with SEND

At London Maths & Science College (LMSC), we welcome applications from young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and are committed to helping each learner access a rigorous British curriculum in a way that is safe, respectful and achievable.

We follow the SEND Code of Practice: 0–25 years, the Equality Act 2010 and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025, as they apply to sixth forms and colleges in England.

Our learners may study on campus in London, fully online, or hybrid; our SEND support applies across all modes.

Our Commitment

Supportive learning environment

Identify needs early

Identify SEND needs early and accurately.

Work in partnership

Work with students, parents/carers and external professionals.

Assess–plan–do–review

Use a graduated response to match support to need.

Reasonable adjustments

Ensure no learner is disadvantaged because of SEND.
Support is tailored: some students need occasional adjustments; others have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) that require coordinated, longer-term support.

Online sessions are recorded for catch-up and revision (helpful when extra processing time is needed).

Managing fatigue

Short breaks, varied activities and clear expectations about independent work.

Exam Access Arrangements & Reasonable Adjustments

Exam preparation

LMSC follows the JCQ Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) regulations for GCSE and A Level examinations. Although we cannot guarantee any particular arrangement, we will always consider what is possible and fair within these rules.
